Coronavirus Disease – 2019 (COVID – 19) is spreading in most of the countries in the world at an alarming speed. Vaccine for Covid – 19 is not expected in the near future and till today there is no effective remedy for this killer disease. The most effective way to escape from this disease is to strictly avoid exposure to this virus. According to health care experts, Covid – 19 transmits from person to person. When a person is in close contact with another person who is already infected with coronavirus, he also gets infected. When a person who is affected by coronavirus coughs or sneezes, the disease spreads through the respiratory droplets that are sprayed out from his/her mouth or nose. These droplets may reach the nose, mouth or eyes of the person who stands or sits within a distance of 6 feet from the affected person and as a result, he gets infected with the virus. Another possibility is that the person who is not affected may inhale the air that is contaminated with the droplets produced by the affected person while sneezing or coughing and consequently his lungs get infected with the virus.
Protect your family
Since Coronavirus spreads very fast it can reach any part of the world at any time. Since there is no vaccine for this disease and there is no remedy for this disease the best solution now is to adopt effective preventive measures. It is very important not to get panic. With a clear vision and a strong determination to follow the tips for prevention, we can get out of the risk. We have to prepare our family also to follow the preventive measures so as to prevent the coronavirus disease at home. COVID – 19 is declared a pandemic by WHO and the few basic steps that we follow can save us from the risk and also help others not to get infected.
Prevent COVID-19 at home
You must wash your hands with soap solution for 20 seconds before eating, after eating, after going to the bathroom, after coughing and sneezing and after blowing your nose. All members of the family should follow this practice. Instead of soap and water, alcohol-based sanitizer also can be used. Whenever the hands are found visibly dirty wash with soap and water. Everyone in the house should avoid touching his/her mouth, nose or eyes.
It is very important to practice social distancing. As far as possible all members of the family should remain at home and avoid going out. When we go to public places we are likely to be in close contact with other people as a result of which the disease may spread. When you cough or sneeze cover your nose with a cloth or tissue paper and dispose the cloth or tissue paper in a closed dustbin. Train your kids also to sneeze or cough in the same way. You may ensure that the house is kept perfectly clean and disinfect your home regularly using household cleaning liquids, sprays or wipes. Everyone in the house may strictly avoid travel to infected areas and cooperate with government staff and volunteer organizations to prevent spreading of the disease. Avoid shaking hands with other people and while talking to somebody keep a distance of not less than 6 feet between you and the other person. While disinfecting your home wear disposable hand gloves and after removing the gloves wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water. If any member of the family develops cold, fever, cough or any other illness, meet the doctor immediately.
